Bai Shi Wing Chun Indonesia

Brotherhood of Wing Chun (BoWC) Indonesia held a Bai Shi ceremony on the 17th of May 2014 in Solo, East Java. Bai Shi ceremony is held to officially acknowledge a disciple according to Wing Chun traditions. The ceremony was attended by Wing Chun Solo and Semarang.bai shi
Although Bai Shi ceremony is not well followed by Wing Chun’s practitioners in the present day, this tradition is really important for us to hold due to the following reasons:

  • Bai Shi is a form of authenticacy of Wing Chun, as Bai Shi has always been passed down traditionally.
  • An official acknowledgement for Wing Chun lineage that the disciple has learnt.
  • A milestone for the disciple to learn Biu Gee. Biu Gee will not be taught to the disciple if Bai Shi is not honoured.
  • To help conserve Wing Chun’s authenticacy and traditions.

BoWC Indonesia will continue to practice this ancient traditions in the far future. It is essential for a BoWC disciple to participate in Bai Shi should they wish to learn Biu Gee. Family alike, they will then have unlimited access to learn Wing Chun Ip Man.
